It was celebrations all round for birthday girl Chantel Lyon when skating at Alfreton on the weekend of her 9th birthday with the skaters from Ely Artistic Roller Skating Club.

The Norfolk youngster won the gold in figures which together with a sound free programme won her the silver in combined. Team mate Alethea Mack joined Chantel on the podium taking the silver for novice figures whilst Lucy Ure took the bronze in preliminary figures.

A spokesperson for the club said 'All the skaters performed well in what is always a stiff competition with some of the best skaters in the country taking part.'
